Die Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin stellt seit 2018 einen Publikationsfonds zur Verfügung, um Autor*innen bei der Veröffentlichung von Open-Access-Publikationen finanziell zu unterstützen. Der von der Medizinischen Bibliothek verwaltete Fonds wurde mit Mitteln der DFG eingerichtet und mit Mitteln der Charité jährlich deutlich verstärkt. In der nächsten Projektphase sollen Verfahren zur optimierten Erhebung des Publikationsaufkommens und seiner Kosten entwickelt und dazu die Bereiche Informationsversorgung und Publikationsbetreuung in ihren Prozessen enger verknüpft werden. Ziel ist eine einrichtungsweit zentralisierte Mittelbewirtschaftung. Dabei soll ein nachhaltiges und Open Science begünstigendes Finanzierungsmodell konzipiert und etabliert werden.Niedrigschwellige Services zum Open-Access-Publizieren sollen zu einer verbesserten wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation beitragen; das Verständnis von Autor*innen für Funktionsweise und Kosten des Publizierens sollen befördert werden.Since 2018, the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin has provided a publication fund to financially support authors with open access publishing. The fund, which is administered by the Medical Library, was established with funding from the DFG and significantly reinforced each year with Charité funding. In the next phase of the project, procedures will be developed to optimize recording of both publication output and publication costs, and to this end, the areas of information provision and of publication support will be more closely linked in their processes. The goal is to centralize the management of funds across the institution. A sustainable financial model that favors open science will thereby be designed and established.Low-threshold services for open access publishing will contribute to improved scientific communication; authors’ understanding of the functioning and costs of publishing will be furthered

Bericht der Arbeitsgruppe "Open-Access-Publikationsplattformen"

Die Open-Access-Strategie des Landes Berlin von 2015 formuliert den Anspruch: "Als langfristiges Ziel wird der Aufbau einer landesweiten Open-Access- Infrastruktur für Monografien, Sammelbände und Zeitschriften in Kooperation mit an wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen agierenden Infrastrukturdienstleistern, sowie mit in Berlin ansässigen Verlagen und Publikationsdienstleistern angestrebt." Eine landesweite Berliner Open-Access- Publikationsinfrastruktur soll dabei von den vorhandenen infrastrukturellen und wissenschaftlichen Expertisen mehrerer, kooperativ agierender Einrichtungen in Berlin profitieren und qualitativ hochwertige Publikationen zu fairen Kosten umsetzen. Die Arbeitsgruppe "Open-Access- Publikationsplattformen" mit Vertreter/innen mehrerer Berliner Forschungseinrichtungen wurde beauftragt, dafür notwendige Vorarbeiten zu leisten. So wurden im ersten Teil des Berichtes die an Berliner wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen bereits bestehenden Publikationsinfrastrukturen erfasst. Im zweiten Teil wurden drei Modelle für den Aufbau einer landesweiten Open-Access-Publikationsinfrastruktur für Monografien, Sammelbände und Zeitschriften beschrieben. The Berlin Open Access Strategy claims: "It is a long-term goal to establish a Berlin-wide open access infrastructure for monographs, anthologies and periodicals – as a cooperation of infrastructure service providers located at research institutions as well as Berlin-based publishers and publishing service providers." A Berlin-wide open access publishing infrastructure should be based on the existing infrastructural and scholarly expertise of several, cooperating institutions in Berlin and result in high-quality publications at fair costs. A working group "Open Access Publishing Platforms" consisting of representatives of several Berlin research institutions was set up and commissioned to carry out the necessary preliminary work. The first part reports on existing publication infrastructures run by Berlin research institutions. The second part describes three possible model for re- structuring and setting up a Berlin-wide open access publishing infrastructure for monographs, anthologies and journals

Continuation of a publication fund for the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and formation of lasting and reliable structures for financing Open Access publications

Seit 2018 unterstützt die Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin die Veröffentlichung von Forschungsergebnissen in Open-Access-Zeitschriften durch einen eigenen Fonds für Publikationsgebühren. Die Etablierung und Fortführung des Publikationsfonds aus Mitteln der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) und der Charité soll es Angehörigen der Charité erleichtern, ihre wissenschaftliche Arbeit in qualitätsgeprüften Open-Access-Zeitschriften zu veröffentlichen und sie damit Forschenden und der interessierten Öffentlichkeit weltweit frei zugänglich zu machen.From 2018 onwards, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is supporting the publication of research findings in Open Access journals through a fund for publication fees. The establishment and continuation of the publication fund is based on a grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and will facilitate the process of publishing in Open Access Journals for Charité members. This will enable further scientific discovery and raise public interest through worldwide access to your findings

Das Charité Open Access Dashboard

The Charité Medical Library has developed the “Charité Open Access Dashboard” as part of the monitoring of open access (OA) publications and in the context of the Berlin open access strategy. The dashboard provides an overview of various aspects of OA publications including the centrally recorded publication costs. It aims at a differentiated understanding of OA and at increasing the cost awareness of authors. The data collected annually in the and databases are processed and visualized for the dashboard using R as programming language.The poster presents the Charité Open Access Dashboard and the background of its development and explains in detail four of the included diagrams
